Sketchy Heroes

When I did my first 24 Hour Comic, Bad Eggs, I used an online random superhero name generator to come up with these characters, then quickly sketched what I thought they would look like.  Some of them show up in Bad Eggs, The Vow, and other places.

The Vow Pt. 19

Teen sidekicks in peril in the first of my last four episodes of "The Vow," my serialized comic from way back in 2001. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 20

Bustin' caps in this episode of my serialized comic "The Vow." The usual crap drawing. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 21

Man-Dozer and Ms. Protector have philosophical differences about super-baddies in this penultimate issue of my serialized comic "The Vow." Posted by Hello

The Vow: The End

GameFace gives Tim a second lease on life, and a happy ending. Hope you enjoyed it. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 18

In this second shot of my serialized comic "The Vow" today, we see the political fallout of a superhero battle, and some philosophical issues, all in ten ill-sketched panels. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 17

I finished drawing my serialized comic "The Vow" on September 9, 2001, so I felt really bad about this sequence in the following days, where we see the wake of the EMP explosion and Despot-9's appearance as a Middle Eastern strongman. Odd karma. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 16

In the next installment of "The Vow," events take an anticlimactic turn for former teen sidekick turned homeless guy Tim. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 15

In this week's double-dose of my serialized comic "The Vow," GameFace takes gives notice, in a somewhat extreme way, to his former employer Despot-9. Posted by Hello

The Vow: 14

Another slug of "The Vow" today. I realized I have been posting these more slowly than Rob Liefeld, thus the plot is unfolding slower than a Chris Claremont subplot. Here, our tarnished hero GameFace, with his unhinged former teen sidekick Tim, makes a fateful decision. Posted by Hello

The Vow: 13

Another installment of my serialized comic "The Vow," and another display of my dubious artistic talent. An anonymous poster over at John Layman's Blog (see sidebar), where I am in an American Idol-type blog contest, suggested I post more installments. Shockingly, this anonymous poster wasn't even me. The Vow Pt. 12

A double dose of THE VOW today. Here, our tarnished hero GameFace, the artist previously known as Man-Dozer, meets some archetypal former comrades. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 11

Another chapter of my poorly-drawn serialized comic strip THE VOW. In this episode, GameFace meets a former teen sidekick fallen on hard times. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 10

The Vow, my serialized comic strip experiment, part 10--halfway there, more or less. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 9

The 9th edition of my serialized comic "The Vow" from 2001. The last image of Captain Gravity, slumped over in his chair, not sure what to do next, represented how I felt at that moment...and it would be a while before I picked up felt-tip pen once more and drew part 10. Posted by Hello

The Vow, Pt. 8

Part 8 of my serialized comic strip "The Vow," where GameFace breaks the super-baddie code. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 7

Part Seven of my serialized comic strip from 2001, featuring the beginning of the end for "The Free Agents." Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 6

The Vow Pt. 6, part of my ill-conceived serial comic from 2001. The title "Sanpin" comes from the Japanese word for a second-tier samurai, which our beloved Captain Gravity proves to be. Posted by Hello

The Vow Pt. 5

My poorly-drawn serialized comic strip "The Vow," but one of my favorite outings, where a crazy homeless guy describes a superhero fight. Cleverly, I called this one "Hangnail's Prophesy" and forgot to call the character Hangnail in the story, nor show that he had a hook for a hand. Posted by Hello

The Vow, Pt. 4

Part 4 of my serialized comic "The Vow," offered for your modest amusement, featuring a title from a song that was playing at the time I drew it. Posted by Hello
